Story
Our Name
An Aspen forest (which appears above the surface to be hundreds of individual trees) is actually just one tree, sharing the same root system beneath the soil surface. The Aspen tree is a powerful metaphor for collaborators as we work to create root systems of mutuality, respect, learning, and planning that unite cause champions in our city. The juxtaposition of blue-sky thinking, yearning and shared hopes, completes the metaphor of not just the aspen tree but what it grows toward. This is the inspiration for our name. Our Team
While our team brings decades of expertise in nonprofit leadership, incubation and development, we see ourselves as learners and curators for the nascent social technology of collaboration. Our experience then is less valuable than our posture and our commitment to listen, coach and empower the people we walk alongside. Our Patron
We are funded and supported by the National Christian Foundation of Tampa Bay. Their vision and generosity allows us to be generous in turn. Further, their donor-advised fund platform gives every collaboration we work with, financial tools that are a critical ingredient to their success. Our Approach
We believe that our leadership input into any emerging collaboration should be humble, deferential, and temporary. Our goal is always to build a collaboration to be self-defining and ultimately self-sustaining. We have the deepest conviction that the best people to lead an enterprise are the people most engaged in it.
